Legal
Privacy policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026. This page explains what RecipeTag collects, why, and the choices you have. Review it with your own legal adviser before launch.
What we collect
- Without an account: nothing that identifies you. Your Recipe Box, shopping list, week menu, preferences and forks are stored in your own browser (local storage). Our server keeps anonymous usage events (pages viewed, features used) tied to a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you.
- With an account (Google or Facebook sign-in): your name, email address and profile picture from that provider, and the data you choose to sync (saved recipes, lists, preferences, forks).
- When you contribute: ratings, notes, photos and problem reports you send, and the display name you choose.
- When you support us: your email address and the amount. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Newsletter: your email address, after you confirm it.
Cookies
Recipe pages set no cookies. A sign-in cookie exists only on our account service after you sign in. Google Analytics and advertising partners may set cookies; on the US site we honor Global Privacy Control, and in the EU, UK and Switzerland they only run after you agree.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. Advertising partners may use cookies for targeted ads, which some US state laws treat as "sharing". Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser to opt out, or email us and we will opt you out.
Your rights
You can download or delete your account and its data at any time from the account menu, or by emailing us. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with privacy laws have the right to know, correct, delete and opt out; we honor these requests for everyone.
Children
RecipeTag is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
