About RecipeTag
The best recipes are made together
We write and check every recipe before it goes live. Then home cooks make it better: your swaps, fixes and notes shape every update, and each change says where it came from.
From first draft to version 3
- We start from what home cooks askThe questions people search, the problems they run into and what other recipes leave out.
- We write it as steps you can followExact amounts, temperatures, doneness cues and a timer for every timed step, with the amounts inside the steps so you never scroll back.
- We check it before it goes liveA culinary review, food-safety checks against USDA guidance (like 165°F for chicken), an allergen review, and nutrition estimated from USDA FoodData Central.
- You cook it and tell usNotes, “Problem with this step?”, the quick checks in cook mode and the questions you ask TagChef all show us where a recipe can be clearer.
- We improve it, and show what changedEvery recipe has numbered versions. Each update lists what changed and which cook reports led to it.
Where AI helps, and where people decide
AI helps us
- research what cooks search for and struggle with
- draft recipes, tips and answers in a consistent format
- sort thousands of notes and reports by step and problem
- answer quick questions as TagChef, from answers we checked first
People decide
- what a recipe must get right, and when it is ready
- everything about food safety and allergens
- every update to a published recipe
- every note that is held back for review
Each recipe shows a short line under the title with its checks, its version and how often cooks have helped improve it.
What we never do
- Claim a kitchen test that did not happen.
- Write, buy or invent reviews, or let AI write them.
- Hide a review because it is negative, or change your star rating.
- Show an illustration or generated image as if it were a photo of the dish. Media is labeled.
- Sell your data or post anything for you when you sign in with Google or Facebook.
How notes are checked
TagChef reads every note once when it arrives. Genuine experiences are published, critical ones included. Spam, links and abuse are stopped, and anything that might be unsafe food advice waits for a person. We only fix spelling and punctuation, and the original is always one tap away.
Found something that did not work?
Every step has “Problem with this step?”. Reports that lead to an update are credited.
